Shared Border Hints

• Shared borders are maintained in hidden folders. Display them by going to tools==>web settings==>advanced and checking "show hidden files and folders".
• Back up your shared borders by
  • opening the folder,
  • selecting the files named top.htm, left.htm, right.htm, and bottom.htm. (The files only exist for the shared borders you use.
  • Select copy.
  • Click on the _borders folder icon to select it and paste. The results should look like the figure below:

• If you accidentally overwrite one of your borders, you can go to the copies and copy and paste the CODE into the border that needs to be fixed.
• If it asks if you want to overwrite the shared borders, answer "no". If it keeps asking you and you can't save, click "cancel", switch to HTML view, then save.
• FrontPage 2000 does not allow you to have a shared border color based on page color, but 2002 does.
• Navigation bars change automatically depending on the page they are on, so you may need to have two or three navigation bars on the page.
